A must-visit in England: Rye

Rye is one of those picture-perfect postcard destinations that you cannot skip if you’re in the area. The village is nestled in East Sussex, near the coast. Over the years, preservation has played a crucial role hence why there is still the authentic feel of a fortified town.

Rye is known for its stunning cobbled streets flanked by beautiful half-timbered houses, shops, and a few old inns. One of the main attractions is Mermaid Street, with strange-looking houses from ‘The House Opposite’ to the ‘House with Two Front Doors’.

If you are looking for an authentic overnight stay, the Mermaid Inn is the place.

There are also several antique and independent shops worth visiting, as well as the Apothecary Coffee House, an authentic building with characteristics of its previous life, as the name explains.

Make sure to check it out if you are planning a trip to England: https://www.visit1066country.com/destinations/rye

With love, Marie
